If I was in that crowd I’ll shout Lies! He’s absolutely lying. In concrete terms, he won’t be able to give significant development aid has brought to Africa. Aid is being used to rather exploit. The sheet is unbalanced in favor of the donor. Most of the aid money doesn’t even make it to Africa to begin with !

China is doing well with Africa and is more futuristic like for instance it has really changed Kenya our country eg roads, bridges, buildings and electricity. That our president made an agreement with the Chinese to change our country

Very true that the Chinese are improving our livelihoods like for instance they did for us construction on roads and bridges and sgr railway. Most Kenyans go to China for that work who are in engineering

I support @dambisamoyo view on donor aid 💯, but I wonder what she thinks about the default on coupon payments for the 750 million euro bond that she thought was great then. This bond in addition to others that government got has resulted in a stagnate Zambian economy as we speak in 2024. Its had to be restructured under the G20 common framework. So if not aid and if not capita markets (eurobonds), what then is the issue with Africa?

President Paul Kagame is a true leader who has put his people first every time when he is on interview it's people of Rwanda and the way he has transformed his country you can agree that this man loves his country and it's people, and this is what the west hate.President Kagame has just used Aid properly and for the intended purpose he has used enterprenuaship to transform his country. I hope some African leaders also admire his style of leadership. I love him.

The issue with aid is it effectively acts as a natural resource which in turn results in Dutch Disease. This is ignoring the corruption in a lot of these countries where the aid received by these government officials is either poorly handled or even for them to abscond with some of this "free" money. I think both the people who support aid and who deny it will agree that the end goal is for aid to no longer be needed and for the economies in these poorer countries to flourish. That being said, I do think humanitarian aid will always be a necessity, as there will always be a natural disaster, or repercussions from conflict, etc. Also just to note that Bill Gates work in this realm is sizeable and he has done a lot of work outside of aid to help poorer countries. I suggest reading more about some of the programs he funds and the issues he tackles with his foundation.

At best foreign aid is subsidizing poverty out of pity, at worst it’s meant to keep Africans in poverty. You can’t do something like foreign aid as long as humanity has done it without at least occasionally considering the results, no matter how blissfully ignorant you may be to your own policies your are so zealous for, sooner or later you gotta take stock of your actions and when you do, one question comes to mind, “Are we the baddies?”

Aid is a system of "robbing Peter to pay Paul". Aid thrives on knowing that there's no free meal really. Aid is systematic manipulation. Does it do some good? of course it does but in the grand scheme, aid givers know that, like the game of chess, sometimes, to get your major move across, you sometimes, let your opponent have what he wants. Aid is manipulation that avails self and western inspired greed of African leaders into what is termed corruption.
